A promise of a specific search position — “we’ll get you to #1,” “page one or your money back.” It’s the clearest scam signal in SEO because nobody controls Google’s rankings; Google explicitly warns to walk away from anyone who guarantees them. 72% of businesses that bought an “SEO guarantee” saw no improvement. Honest guarantees cover process and effort (scope, transparency, method), never a position.
